serial control LCD with HD1010 ?

Hi,

is it possible to control a LCD screen (power on/off) via RS232 using a HD1010 and a playlist created in Brighht Author.

The Bright Author software is a great tool to make a presentation in an easy way.
Nice to be able to add some GPIO commands, But why isn't it possible to add custom RS 232 commands ?

Let's say, start a presentation everyday at 8:00, turn on the LCD, end the presentation at 18:00, turn off the LCD ?

A lot of HD compact players are used in combination with a LCD or Projector ?

BrightAuthor will have that functionality soon, but it's not ready yet.

Is this a general question, or do you have a specific project you're working on?

    Hello Lyndon,

at this moment it's a specific question for a project I'm working on.

But I think the compact series are very good to use as Narrow Casting and other public display, and the option to switch LCD or projector on/off using RS232 is a necessity.

Why use a remote control (which gets lost always) when you could use the roku !?

Sending commands using UDP would be another great addition. Ah well, I get carried away a bit here.

This RS232 functionality, will this be foor the HD1010 only, or also for the HD210 ?

    thanks

BrightAuthor will have this functionality shortly, where you can send commands both over UDP or serial.

You can currently sending commands using serial or udp, using interactive playlists. Once interactive support is rolled into brightauthor, the same features will be available there.

The 210 doesn't have serial, only the 1010, 810, and 410 models. Can you send mean an email at support@brightsign.biz?
