Managing displays over the network

We are testing a HD210 to see how this will fit into our Digital Signage sales and marketing strategy. I would like to know if it is possible to update and manage displays such as the HD210 over the network and the Internet without using the Brightsign Network manager? It seems that if this can be done through the Network Manage it can be done independently. Perhaps set up a playlist that reads in a RSS feed (which I have done) then just update the RSS feed source. Or anything else anyone can suggest. Thanks! <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

    BrightAuthor supports setting up units to connect to a folder on a web server for content updates.

    You could use a mediarss feed for image updates.

    You could use a custom script where you were downloading xml files that told the unit what content to download, and what content to play. The Brightscript language has an both an xml and rss parser.  You can also parse standard text files or csv files.

    Thanks Lyndon.  I also discovered the SyncSpecCreator application which I'm going to experiment with today.  I'll be using AWS as my web folder for storing the files.  Looks pretty easy from the simple network user guide document.

    Well, no sooner I start to experiment I run into a road block.  Following the simple network user guide, I run the SyncSpecCreator application and create the initial setup syncspec, current-sync.xml.  The instructions say to load this to an empty SD card, which I did.  It also says to load the autorun-setup.brs file.  Here's the problem.  I don't have an autorun-setup.brs file and have no idea where this should be.

    Assistance would be appreciated.  <!-- s:cry: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt=":cry:" title="Crying or Very sad" /><!-- s:cry: -->

    Never mind.  After using advanced search on this forum I found a reference to http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3480052/Software%26Firmware/Simple%20Network%20Files.zip.

    I gotta tell ya, the files and docs on the brightsign.biz site aren't the most intuitive things to navigate and to try to find answers.  Plus I have to ask why there isn't even a reference to these setup files and that site.

    Actually,

    The BrightAuthor user's guide has a section on simple networking. You those files are for the HD2000. Support for connecting to a web server is integrated into BrightAuthor. The network update section of the BrighAuthor user's guide covers this as well.

    We will be adding videos to the website that cover a variety of topics including networking.
