Portrait Sign Orientation in BrightAuthor

I am new to the product line and this forum, but a preliminary search has not helped... How do we use portrait orientation in BrightAuthor? Most of our intended applications require this. Ryan Lampel Innovative Multimedia

THere isn't a portrait layout currently. BUt, you can create content that's already layed out in portrait mode, and then playback that portrait content on the player.

This seems like it would be a great feature to add. I have my monitors in portrait orientation.

I see that it's listed as an option in the 3.0.0.12 beta of BrightAuthor, alas, I cannot seem to get it to work.

I would love to see it, and I think that it would be wise to provide a Clockwise and Counter Clockwise setting.

I have a testing rig on my desk, and it's summer, so I'm more available to test things, let me know if you want me to try out any beta firmware.

I have a TD1012 display and my graphic designer needs to know how to design content.  When she sent me a portrait oriented piece of content with embedded video, it did not orient properly in BA.  It needed to be rotated properly on the display.  How can I fix this?

There are a lot of people using Portrait Displays for Digital Signage.

Yes it works the other way, but with so many people developing content in Portrait, it seems silly that things can't be reflected this way in BrightAuthor correctly as well.

Adding a portrait resolution to BrightAuthor & the players would be a major time saver on the design end.

    Thanks

Just to clarify, the desire here is for brightauthor to have better portrait layout, but more that the brightsign rotates content for you? Or, that the brightsign properly handles content formatted 720x1280, for example?

It would be great to have the player & BrightAuthor properly handle content formatted as 720x1280 / 1080x1920. A portrait wysiwyg layout would be helpful as well.

Here is a copy of a comment I made in another thread, that is pertains to this:

"If you go to edit the Layout, and you have set a Portrait presentation, even thought the layout "preview" on the side shows portrait, the zone editor is in Landscape, and not in Portrait, so if you want to make any modifications to the zone layout, you have to think rotated 90 degrees.

Portrait should be Portrait in every view, period.

Creating Digital Signage presentations in Portrait is nothing new, people have been doing this for quite a while now.

No  one wants to work on a project and try and have to think about things rotated 90 degrees out from what you are working in.

I can create and work in true portrait view 1080x1920 in Adobe After Effects, render it to an AVI video file, encode that to a MP4 video file, and play it back in VLC; all in True Portrait with out rotating anything along the way.  Why would I want to work with this sideways in BrightAuthor at any point?

Anything I do for a Portrait Project should be in Portrait visually for every aspect along the way, including all aspects of BrightAuthor."

The short version is, if I am working in true portrait in every type of content creation software (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, etc.) why doesn't BrightAuthor do the same?

My layout is simple.  I created a building directory with an excel spreadsheet and converted it to a .png file

It never changes.  The client would like it in portrait mode.  Are you telling me there is no way to display one image in portrait?

IF you don't have an xd player, you have to rotate the image 90 degrees counterclockwise first, then send it to the brightsign. So, on your computer, the image would look like it was on its side, top to the left. If you have an xd player, you can display the image using html, and rotate it using html.
