Bright Author Crashing with mpg files

I am new to Bright Author and I am having trouble adding in mpg files to my media list (jpg and bmp are fine). When I open the folder (with only one mpg file in it) It brings it in but then Bright Author freezes. I tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it but it didn't help. Any advice to move forward???

    This could be due to a codec error when brightauthor tries to build a thumbnail for your video. If only images are in the folder, does it open fine? Please download the k-lite codec pack, and install it, and retest.

    Which version of brightauthor are you using?
