Design Questions

Hello! A few questions: Is there any way to change the fonts? SYSTEM is the default, and I cannot seem to change this. Even attempting to select a different font folder, or manually typing the name of a different font in...does not stick. Is there any other ticker style, other than the typewriter effect? (i.e. other than ANIMATED and STATIC) Is there a way to change the font size? Is there anyway to add buffer in between the zones? Are there any plans for a drag and drop or network publish location without needing a secondary webserver or Brightsign Network account? Is there a way to preview the display without loading it on the player? Thanks all! ~Michael

Try manually copy the fonts .ttf file to the folder you publish your project to.

    Hrm.  No luck thus far.

Are there any other solutions to these multiple issues?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

can you explain exactly what steps you are taking that are failing? I am able to browse to a true type font on my computer, so long as it's not in the fonts folder, and select it. Are yo doing this under edit preferences? If so, those settings only apply to newly created projects since those are defaults. If you want to change the font in your current project,  you should go to zone properties for your text or clock zone and add the font there.

There isn't another animated text style other than the typewriter effect. You can change the font size by either changing the size of the zone, or increasing or reducing the number of lines shown under zone properties. If you increase the number of lines shown, the font gets smaller.

What do you mean by a buffer between the zones?

You will be able to publish directly to brightsigns on a local network in an upcoming firmware and brightauthor release. This is only for local networks, not over the internet.

There is not a preview function currently available.

    Thanks for the reply.

Well, I have not tried selecting outside a font outside of my fonts folder - so I will give that a try.

As far as buffer between the zones, if I split the screen up into adjacent zones, all material in each zone will be exactly next to the adjacent zone.  I was curious if there was a way to "pad" each zone so it is universal for each zone.

I'm really excited to hear about the publish via local network!  What is the expected release date?  Need beta testers?

As far as preview...well, that's a shame.  Even a still image would be nice, to line up overlays with graphics.  Is that on the roapmap?

    Thanks so much!

Preview is on on to do list, but I don't know where it fails in priority.

To paid the zones, you would have to do it manually. There's no universtal extra space.

The local publishing is in testing now. Beta should be q4. I"m not sure when the first beta release will be.

As I understand it, you cannot have a video zone over a background image zone.  I've created a background image zone, but cannot create a new zone for a video over it.  Is this true?  However,  circumvent this by just making an image zone full screen, and placing a video over it.   Is there a downside to this?  Perhaps my next question answers this...

As far as transparent backgrounds for RSS and Text zones, I cannot seem to get any transparencies to work (solid black box is present behind the text) when over an Image zone.  Does the transparency only work with a background image zone?

Thanks so much, continuing testing now...

EDIT:  More testing, and yes the above is true.  I can't put a video zone over background image zone.  Using a normal image zone full screen, prevents video from playing over it, as well as transparency.

How are people making images full screen AND doing video?  It appears the only way to do it, is to create background images that match the shape of the other non video zones and apply those as a zone background.   This seems very involved.  Any other ideas?

You can play an image zone over a video. If you are using a png with alpha channel, the video will show through any transparent regions of the image.

You are correct that you can't put a video over a background image zone.
