can't see my video files

I have a Brightsign 410. I create video clips in Final Cut Pro. I've tried exporting them many ways: as quicktimes, using compressor and streaming them, converting them to wmv. And when I bring them into brightAuthor software (version 2.0.0.42) I can't see my video files in the Medis Library list. I can see the default files you provided when I downloaded the software. Do my video files have to be a specific format? Do they have to be placed in a special folder like the Content folder? Also, when I output them...originally they were 1080p files. I tried to view them on a 720p Toshiba monitor. I understand they may not look the best but wouldn't I at least be able to see them play on the screen? After trying this and that for four hours, I give up and await your response.

  The brightsign currently plays mpeg1, mpeg2, and h.264 files. For mpeg1, they have to be system streams, mpeg2 can be program or transport streams, and h.264 files must be transport streams.
  
  The brightauthor software, recognizes three extensions currently:
  
  .ts, .mpg, and .vob
  
  If your file doesn't end in those extensions, brightauthor won't show them.
  
  Your MOV files won't play because the mov container isn't supported yet. If they're h.264 encoded, they would need to be converted to transport streams.
  
  WMV files aren't supported yet.
  
  You can read more about supported formats in the faq, or the video quality technote that goes into detail about supported video codecs, and how to get the best quality output on the brightsign. You can create both mpeg1 and mpeg2 files from final cut/compressor that will play on the brightsign.

  In Final Cut Pro I can export to compressor which will give me an Meg2 Program Stream with Mpeg Audio at 48khz.
  The extension is .mpeg
  When i bring that over to my PC and try to view the file in BrightAuthor I can't see the file. If I change the extension to mpg instead of Mpeg I can see the file and drag into over and publish it but it doesn't play.
  
  I also have, using Final Cut to compressor, a Mpeg2 Transport stream but that gives me an m2t extension and doesn't work.
  
  So it appears I have the right file but cannot publish it.
  I look forward to your reply. (Eight hours of this has been fun but there are limits.)

  WE have many customers that use final cut with mpeg2 and the brightsign.
  
  
  Your .mpeg video needs to be changed to .mpg.
  And, the .m2t video needs to be changed to .ts.
  
  Can you please verify that your computer is set to show extensions for known file types. That way, we can avoid the file having a double extension, without the extra extension showing. Which version of windows are you running on the windows system?   If you want, you can upload your sample files and send me a link, and I can look at them. But, the mpeg2 files from final cut do work on the brightsign.

  This is what I've learned today.
  
  1. When creating video files for Brightsign using Final Cut Pro and Compressor...:
  Use Compressor and if you do use "Format—Mpeg1" the file that is output will have a .mpg extension. No further action needed.
  If you use Compressor and "Format—Mpeg2 (Program Stream)", the output File will receive ".mpeg" extension. That’s okay. Just remember to CHANGE it to ".mpg" on either the Mac or PC before Publishing it in BrightAuthor.
  
  2. When inserting a new SD card, pull the power from the Brightsign box, remove the old SD card, insert a new SD card, then plug in the power. If you power it up before inserting the new card, it seems to get hung up on the Brightsign logo screen.
  
  3. One question: The files that are loaded on the Brightsign, once they are running, I noticed that if you remove the card it still plays the files. Is this an acceptable way to run things? Or is it best to leave the SD card in place?
