BrightSign + RS232

Hi, I try to turn a display on and off by RS232-commands. The documentation of this display says, that I have to send "^¡" and "]¢" (ASCII-coded) in order to control it. I added these commands in Bright Author the same way, it is shown in your Video: http://www.brightsign.biz/tutorials.php#serialcontrols The problem: The display does not turn on and off. I tried connecting the display with the computer and sending the commands with a terminal - that works. Then I tried connecting my BrightSign 1010 with the computer - the player does not send any of the commands I "told him to". But, when I restart the player I get cryptic characters: üM,-Ì- ýìí Mý ¬ßÌ7MŒm M mM-,lmì -̽üà The presentation can be accessed here: http://www.k-m.at/example-presentation/ The player downloads it every minute.

Normally, If I see junk output, it means the speed that my brightsign project is set to doesn't match the speed of my terminal program.

Which version of brightauthor are you using? if it's 2.0.0.23, please update to the latest on our website.

    Thank you!
I changed the Baudrate and so I could see, that the HD1010 could not send the ASCII-chars.
So I changed it to "serial send byte" and now it works perfectly.

    Thank you
