Multiscreen Set-up... sense check.

Hi All, Have tried to do as much background reading as I can to save wasting peoples time, but I am currently designing a multi-screen video program and hardware system for a client and just wanted to sense check that my thinking is in line with reality. We are producing a 6 screen video production that I am planning to playback using a single HD1010 and 5 HD210's synced via UDP over Ethernet. The video file on the HD1010 will have a AC-3 stream attached that I hope will be passed out over HDMI and decoded by a surround processor. This is the bit I am fairly confident about... The trickier part is that our clients would like some basic 'show control', so that the program can be stopped and retriggered, the audio can be muted, and presumably change the start/finish times. To achieve this I am wondering if I should be looking in to providing some a push-button interface for the clients to use so that they can make 'real time' changes (ie: button one = stop, button two = start show, button three = play playlist with audio muted, etc), or if this is simply not feasible, I am assuming that they would at least be able to adjust the scheduling, load up a mute playlist, etc, using BrightAuthor if I make sure the HD1010 is connected back to their LAN? Anyhow, any thoughts, tips or traps would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance, Andrew Barrie

You can start and stop the playlist with no problems.

With brightauthor 2.2, you can also mute and unmute audio.

I can't think of how they can change the schedule via show control. You can schedule changes within brightauthor.

Thanks for your reply. Knowing that I will be able to play, stop, and potentially mute/unmute the program via button presses is very helpful. Regarding the scheduling, I think I am just going to advise that they can change the times in the playlist via Bright Author if required. One question however - If a multi-screen program is scheduled to play between 9am and 5pm everyday, and someone sends a 'play' command via a button press at 5:15pm, will the program just continually loop until it is told to stop at 5pm the following day? Thanks, A

When the player stops, based on the schedule, it will ignore any incoming commands. If you want, you could create a second project, that's similar to the first, but only plays once through the loop when a command is received. So, the show could stop looping, but be still active waiting for  a manual trigger.

Thanks again for the help, and your suggestion makes sense to me. I will test in the next couple of days. One more question - Have found conflicting information about whether or not the HD210's and HD 1010 support 1280x800 as an output resolution over HDMI?

With brightauthor 2.2, you can choose 1280x800 as a videomode option.
