'Synchronize' vs. 'send UDP'

Hi, i am just wondering, how the "synchronize" and the "send UDP" commands differ ... In other words: Is there any objection to use the "synchronize" command to start up raster images? From a "usage" point of view they look pretty much the same: trigger an action when the broadcast code is received ... I couldn't find a "general" answer in the forum, so i thought i'd ask ... Thanks!

    The synchronize command uses udp to communicate as well. But, when you use synchronize, two commands are sent. First, a command is sent to preload the file, and that's followed by a command to play the file. With videos, preload stops the currently playing video.

    Ah! Thanks for that information.
    I also expect a "UDP event" not processing a "Synchronize" Keyword, right?
    And: A video must be preloaded, or can it also be started by a simple UDP event?
    Or, to put it another way:
    Is there any ojection of (e.g. by accident) using the "synchronize" command to start raster graphics?
    And will a single UDP event work to start a video, and how does that react?

    Thanks for your patience ... <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->

    Yes to udp event

    Yes, a standard udp event can start the video

    I guess there's no reason you couldn't use sync to trigger something on the other unit as long as you're listening for sync events.
