Hello - I am setting up a Brightsign system for a customer, and they prefer to have the units centrally located and distribute to monitors over cat5. Can anyone recommend a good cat5 HDMI extender that they've used with the Brightsign units? All distances are 75 feet or less. It's a small Dr. office and displays are going in all the rooms. Ideally I'd like a small unpowered (or PoE powered over the single cat5) balun type device velcro'd to the back of the monitor taking the cat5 in and sending HDMI out to the monitor. The next question will be about whether I can expect the HDMI CEC power off / on functionality to work in this scenario. Thanks!

  Positive you don't just want to get the networked model? You are already running the CAT5... Check monoprice for extenders.

  the ones we've been using (so far,) have required two lines of cat-5e/6, and use a powered receiver. The one name I know we've looked at, although it's not the only name we've used, is Magenta Research.
  
  Also, I know there are "powered HDMI cables" which can handle 75-125 foot runs that you might want to look into.

  I have been using the Aten VE-800 hdmi over cat5 extender in a recent project.
  
  It seems to work just fine, but sometimes the signal drops and the screen blacks out. The video system has been installed in a truck trailer by an external company. They did some spooky things regarding the wiring so I think this is the problem and not the extender.Anyway, best practice is to use cat-6 cable for the best shielding. They've used cat-5 now.
  
  In the near future I'll look into the wiring matter.

  Just started experimenting, but we've got two Cat5/6-based transmitter/receiver systems we are evaluating; one by TrippLite and one by DVI Gear. Both have specs that say they will pass 4K resolution.
