Unhappy to see that the second serial port has disappeared from the new product line up !
Any plans to re-introduce it with any of the other new product line up ?

It would have been nice for a heads up about dropping capabilities however might be worth looking at HMS Electronics " http://www.hms-electronics.com/Roku/hd120-1020.htm " they may be able to help you restore any lost functionality you require.
Amazing how nobody from Brightsign has bothered to respond.
What really established the product as a great product, was a vigorous user forum.
How long will it take Brightsign to realize the user forum is badly broken ?
Brian,
I primarily monitor the forums and was out, so catching up. Email is the fastest way to get an answer. And, as we get more and more support volume, there are more eyes on email than anywhere else. I'll have the web guys also check to see if notifications are broken on the forums. Any post should trigger an email to support queue as well.
With that said, the second serial port isn't coming back any time soon. But, if you have a USB enabled unit, you can use a USB to serial adapter to add serial ports to the unit. Any additional USB to serial adapters are seen as serial port 1, serial port 2, etc.
Tickets and emails are a one on one communication.
The great thing about questions handled on the forum is the ability to discover new and inventive ways to use the Brightsigns.
I have learned everything I know about Brightsigns on the old forum.
I learned from the questions asked by others and I learned from the prompt responses by Lyndon.
I learned and discovered enough to go on and sell and install in excess of one hundred units in Australia so far this year.
Judging from the lack of replies on the forum, It seems to me most people have given up waiting for answers and have now gone away.
Damn shame. You had a good thing going.
I would firmly agree with Brian.
The main thing that attracted me to this product several years ago is that is was very well supported.
By that I mean constant firmware updates, good responses on the forums etc. I also learmed alot from reading others posts.
Now it seems as the company has grown, support is starting to drop off. Lyndon was great.... where has he gone?
Also, the documents are quite out of date. I need to write custom scripts for the stuff I do, but the script and object documents on the website don't include the latest firmware features that I am keen to implement.
As Brian said...... it is a Damn shame!
Might be time to start looking at alternative products again......
Andrew, I believe the only document still to be updated is the object reference guide. It'll currently being edited with features in the latest firmware release. This is no different than how it was updated in the past. If there's a specific feature you need details on to script, all you have to do is ask until the document gets updated.
We have added support staff to help with email volume which is the primary way users communicate with us. So, there's always a fast way to get an answer. Unfortunately, at the moment, the forums is not the fastest way to do that. We'll work on improving that.
THe frequency of firmware and software updates hasn't changed to my knowledge.
I am sorry if you haven't been able to get the answers you need on the forums, but as I told Brian, I would recommend emailing support if you need an answer quickly. That's the fastest way to get the info you need.
