Twitter removing support for RSS in new API.

Just a heads up to BrightSign and all.

It has been announced that the new Twitter API is removing support for RSS (and XML and Atom as well).  From what I have read so far, this should not impact anyone right now, but will when the new API is mandatory on March 5, 2013  They are saying that people need to switch to JSON or other API methods to aggregate the twitter data.

So far this seems like it is going to be a big headache for developers all the way around:

Thanks for the heads up. I've forwarded the info to our development team.

Was this ever addressed in the BrightSign software?

They just did the second blackout test (I missed the first one), but it was only a partial test, and they cut it way short, only about 10 minutes at best.  Not nearly enough time to do a definitive test with the current versions of BA and Firmware.

I will try and test again when they schedule the next blackout if I can.

Our support of twitter feeds doesn't require that url anymore. So, brightauthor supports twitter.

    Hello:

Twitter has now retired the old API, and now the Twitter Feeds on BrightSign's have stopped working?

Sr. Support America said that this would not be an issue, but now it is.

Is BrightSign working to fix this now???

Yes,  we are working to fix the problem. I expected the previous changes to address the change over. Updated unit firmware includes a json parser, and the updated brightauthor release will use the json api. There was a planned brightauthor release for tomorrow. I'm confirming if that's still the case.

Anxiously awaiting to hear back on this, as we have issues with twitter feeds not working now too. (New Brightsign user)

For those of you following this thread via email, BrightAuthor 3.7.0.12 Beta was released, but it has been confirmed by myself and user Walter, that this version does not seem to fix the Twitter problem at this time.

I'm on 3.7.0.14 and the Twitter feeds do work.
