Our signage consists of a mixture of still slides and videos with audio.
We would like to be able to play music during the stills, mute it during the videos (while the videos audio is active). And then resume the audio after the video.
We would like to accomplish the background music using the live video module for audio capture only using an iPod, as our audio playlist changes often.
Is this possible, and how would it be done?

What brightsign model do you have? The live video module is only compatible with the HD810, HD1010 and HD1010w units. If you're using the unit of the HDx10 product line, it only supports 1 video zone.
You can add audio files to the audio zone, and sync playback between the audio and video zones using the "zone message" feature. Note, that the brightsign won't let both zones be set to the same audio output at the same time. The audio zone needs to be set to analog, and video zone to HDMI or vice versa. See the attached sample project (it was created in BA 3.7.0.12).
We are using an HD1010 via component video, analog audio.
If our current HD1010 player will not accomplish this, what player will?
All we want to do is play background music while still slides are playing and shut it off when a video plays so the videos audio can be heard. From what you indicate above, the playback screen would have to change to another input, this is not possible.
As we do not have dedicated staff for this, it must remain as simple as possible, we currently have just two zones Video/images, and a ticker Twitter (Which hasn't worked in a while) NON-Interactive.
Your live video module isn't compatible with newer players so you wouldn't be able to use it. Is it possible to use mp3 files for you audio?
