Alternating Text and Image/movie

Hi everyone,

I'm new to BrightSign and stuck on a particular concept.

My layout has 3 vertical zones. The top and bottom zones are static images in 'Images' zones. The middle zone needs to initially show some text, then transition to a movie or image depending on the customer visiting that day.

I have it working with images and videos in that middle zone, but can't seem to add any kind of text to the 'Video or Images' zone. I tried adding a 'Live Text' widget but that doesn't work. I'm not exactly sure how to proceed.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi John,

You need to use the LiveText widget to display the text in the video or images zone in your presentation. LiveText feature is documented in BrightAuthor user guide (attached below).

If you can export your project and send it to us, we can take a look at it. To export a project follow these steps:

    1. Create a new folder on your computer.
    2. Open your presentation in BrightAuthor.
    3. Click on the Edit tab.
    4. Go to File - Export <your presentation name>.
    5. Browse to a newly created folder on your computer.
    6. Press OK. BrightAuthor will export the project.
    7. Close BrightAuthor, zip this folder and send a link to download.

That worked, thank you so much.

One other problem I have encountered. My presentation has a video and 2 images for most of its runtime. My video is showing a black line at the bottom. I also see a black line at the bottom of one of the images. The presentation has a white background.

Any idea how I can get rid of the black lines?

Ideally, the size of the images and resolution of the video should match the size of the zones they are playing in. But you can press "Zone Properties" button and specify scaling settings for the zone. Try setting the image mode to scale to fill.

While I'm wrestling with the black lines, is it possible to fade transition a Live Text zone?

When I put the video in a web browser on a white background, there is no line so I know its not part of the program material.

The black line is in the video file. I have cut 5 pixels from the bottom of your video and the line disappeared after that. I'm attaching the modified file.

Currently, no, there's no fade to a Live Text object.

Thank you. I'll have to do some research on the video issue. I was able to verify there is no black line in the original video file. I think perhaps cutting the bottom off changed the aspect ratio to a nice round number that eliminated the issue. I'll give that a try on my other videos.
