Update.rok and BrightAuthor 3.2.0.12

We run a large number of BrightSign boxes, and any box that was on 3.7.XX firmware would not update to the latest firmware 3.9.11. Instead, we would get a screen saying you need firmware 3.8.XX or greater. If I created a setup card, the boxes would update. If I included a firmware update as part of the playlist then it would never update.

After much trial and error, I discovered that the update.rok file  was not being placed in the root of the SD card when BrightAuthor published. I downloaded that file manually, placed it in the root, and suddenly the BrightSign boxes were updating like they should.

What publish method were you using when this problem occurred? Local Storage, Local Networking, Simple File Network or BrightSign Network?

I've seen this issue before. It was a problem with older versions of brightauthor. What was happening actually was the file was supposed to be copied to the pool folder so that the unit could download it, but that wasn't happening.

I see it, renamed of course, in the pool folder. It's also in the XML. It's just that the file "update.rok" is not in the root.

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. In BA3.2.0.12 if I include the firmware update in the project, then publish the project and transfer the published files to a web server, the unit will download the presentation configuration files along with the firmware, and will update the firmware without any issues. Verified on both the HD1010 and HD1020.
