User Guide Suggested Addition - Media End/Media RSS Feed

Hello:

Could you please add information to the next update to the BrightAuthor User Guide in regards to using Media End Event to transition from a Media RSS Feed to the next item in a Playlist?

I have had a few clients that do not understand the need for this.

In some cases, the player continually tries to download content repeatedly, causing erratic display, as well as using over 10GB of download bandwidth in 1 day per player.

I think better explanation of using Media RSS Feeds and the Media End Event would be beneficial to all.

Thanks!

John

    Hi John,

See the attached playlist. In this example the media rss feed contains videos only. Based on the playlist, the unit powers up and displays the image. It continues displaying the image until the first video from the MRSS feed is downloaded to SD card. Once the 1st video is downloaded, unit plays 1st video, then transits to image, then back to 1st video. At the same time unit downloads the 2nd video from the feed.

Once the 2nd video is downloaded, it plays 1st video, 2nd video, then switches to the image, then back to 1st video, and so on.. and continues downloading 3rd video.

Once third video file is downloaded, it plays video1, video2, video3, image, video1, video2, video3, image, etc.

As soon as all videos from MRSS feed are downloaded to SD card, the playback order will be: video1, video2, ...., videoN, image, video1, video2,... videoN, image.

This has been tested on HD220 and XD1230 with firmware 4.7.96 and BrightAuthor 3.7.0.34.

We can enter a FAQ item about using the media end event with the media rss widgets.
