Firmware update - keep firmware on card

Hello:

Is there a way to keep units from erasing the firmware on the card after updating?

When updating multiple units, it would be nice if there was a way to keep the file on the same card, and not have to put it back on the card when updating multiple units that are not connected to a network.

*_save.bsfw *_save.rok The update contained in the file is applied but the file is not deleted. Because if the device rebooted at this point it would just apply the update again the device will not automatically reboot when applying updates named like this until the storage device containing the update has been removed. This makes this filename useful if you wish to update multiple units.

An easier way is to simply write protect the card by sliding the small tab on the left side.

    Thank you both.

I had tried it once with the write protect tab, but as the process bar on screen showed that the update had not completed, I did not want to trust doing it that way.

Now I know that it  acceptable, as long as I wait for the read/write led's to stop flashing for a few seconds before powering down the unit and removing the SD card.

You probably know this, but in case you didn't realize it, you can check the Firmware version number i.e. success of the update by re booting the box with no SD card present..  The box will display on screen it's ID number and Firmware version.
