Playlist Running Time

Hi all,

I am new to Brightsign as my company has just bought 7 x XD230 players. We are using them to run an advertisers loop at live events. I have searched the forum but can't find an answer to my query.

Is there anyway to find out the total running time of the playlist you have created? Also, is there anyway to export the playlist details to a document? The reason I ask is our client has asked that we create a 1 hour loop of about 35 short videos and slides of varying lengths. They want to see a copy of the playlist and know the total running time. Is there any way to do this easily?

You can schedule a project to play for a desired amount of time. Read how to add projects to a schedule in Chapter 8 – Publishing Presentations in the BrightAuthor user guide.

You can export the whole presentation by going to File - Export "presentation name". BrightAuthor will export the presentation file (the .bpf file) and media files that are included into presentation. Then you can open the .bpf file in BrightAuthor software on any computer and view how the project is built.

If you use the Play File feature, you can import a doc with the list of the files to play. Refer to this FAQ item for further details: http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/21135706-How-do-I-create-and-import-a-table-for-a-Play-File-

If you play media rss feed on the brightsign, the list of all media files is available in the xml/rss file.

If you use our BrightSign Network cloud service to manage the units, you can download the playback reports and see which files have played on the player and when.

I understand that yes it is possible to export the playlist and open in Bright Author on another computer but I simply want to just export the list and total running time. Advertisers and sponsors are not going to want to have to download and install a copy of Bright Author just in order to read a playlist. They just want to be able to have something that can be easily attached to an e-mail as a txt, doc or xls file.

It is possible to highlight all the files in the playlist by pressing Ctrl A but it is not possible to copy this to clipboard. Is this a feature that can be implemented?

There isn't an export of the total running time, or just a list of content that will be playing.  We'll put in a feature request, but can make promises about when something like that would be implemented.
