HD210 No VGA output

Used to use this hd210 with the hdmi output and worked fine.

Now trying to use vga and cannot get any output.  Tried different cables and monitors.  I cannot even get the brightsign logo when no card is inserted.

Is there a way to reset the unit to default?

I tried the reset button on the side but no luck.

Are you using the latest BrightAuthor and firmware versions?

What firmware version is running on the player?

What BrightAuthor version did you use to create and publish a presentation to SD card?

Open your presentation in BrightAuthor, go to File - Presentation properties, and verify the connector type and screen resolution are selected properly, then publish a presentation to a blank SD card and retest playback.

    What screen are you using?

Yes, there is a way to reset the unit to factory defaults. Steps are available in this FAQ:

I have updated the hd210 to the latest firmware Version 3.9.11.  I can verify this by plugging it into an hdmi monitor.

I have updated to the latest brightsign software. 3.5.0.22.

I created a new project, selecting hd210 as the model, vga, 1024x768x75p, ( I've tried both portrait & landscape)

Put two pictures, both 1024x768 resolution .jpg pictures in the playlist.  Publish the project to a blank sd card.

Insert the card into the hd210, power on the hd210, and black screen is all i get.

I have also tried converting the images using the online cmyk to rgb converter with no luck.

    Anything else I can try?

I have tried a few different vga monitors with no luck, but now I am using a Viewsonic VA903b.

Can you try copying just these two files to an sd card, and power up? If the vga is working it should just display one image.

Firmware 3.9.11 is not compatible with BrightAuthor 3.5.0.22. You need firmware version 3.10.22.

I upgraded the hd210 to the 3.10.22 firmware and then put the play.jpg and auto run.brs on a black sd card and then rebooted device.

When it is connected to the vga port I still get nothing but a black screen, but when its connected to the hdmi port it shows the new firmware revision and then displays the play.jpg...

The err light is always on solid red, it never flashes.

Did you try to reset the player to factory defaults using these steps http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/21796878-how-do-i-restore-reset-a-unit-to-factory-default-settings ?

Try updating the firmware on the HD210 in safe mode:

    1. Power down your unit.
    2. Copy the firmware 3.10.22 (update.rok file) onto a blank SD card. Insert SD card into the unit.
    3. Hold down the gpio12 button (on the side of the unit) using a paper clip or a pen, and apply power.
    4. When the amber upgrade LED (on the front side of the unit) lights let go of the button.
    5. The update will be applied from rescue mode.

Then test playback using 2 files sent to you earlier (play.jpg and autorun.brs).

I tried updating the firmware in safe mode but still get the black screen.  I also tried resetting it to factory defaults but still get a black screen.

I know the monitor is receiving a signal because the power light on the monitor goes from dim to bright, and a message displays saying that it is not at it's optimum resolution but still it only displays a black screen with or without an sd card.
