aspect ratio

hello, its the first time i am using BrightSign Author and the first project i am doing creating timelines, so i would appreciate if someone could help me and answer my questions.

i have to create two different timelines/loops of various movie files for 2 different types of screens. one screen is 16:9 aspect ratio the other 4:3.

what happens if i import a movie file which was produced for 4:3 in my 16:9 timelines and the other way around? will it just be shown with black bars or is that gonna be a problem?

I have also seen that some 16:9 files have a lower resolution. what happens to the resloution when i import this file in my 1280 x 720 timeline? will i have quality loss?

when it comes to choosing the resolution for example 1280 x 720 for my 16:9, i see that i can choose between 1280x720x50p for example and 1280x720x60p. i dont know what the 50p/60p stand for. and do i choose landscape and for the 4:3 one portrait?

or is it possible to schedule a phone call with a technician?

    you can adjust the behaviour of the image scaling by modifying the Zone Properties > View Mode and Or Zone Properties > Image Mode.

    For the best possible video output quality you should make sure that no re-scaling need to be carried out by the player. So ideally your content resolution should match the zone size where it is displayed in. so 1280x720 video or images should be displayed in a 1280x720 zone.

    This is the scanning mode ("refresh rate"). This selection matters particularly when you want to display video content. In Europe video content is usually 25fps. So the best video mode for displaying content with this frame rate is a one of the 50p video mode (as it is a multiple of 25).

    The aspect ratio has no bearing in the screen orientation selection.

    Support is done via a ticket system. There is also  substantial amount of information available on the forum and FAQ. if you have further questions, you're welcome to submit a support ticket.

    do you know how video content is in the US, as the project is not european. shall i choose 50p too?

    should i ask the clients to resend the media in higher resolution for the 1280x720 16:9 ratio? i would like to avoid that. at the moment  they have a resolution of 720x480.  will the image be blurry?

    It would be best if you download mediainfo (http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download ) and analyse all your video files with that application. This will allow you to decide which video mode would be best for your content.

    If you want to display your presentation at 1280x720 then I suggest that you test 1280x720x59.94p and 1280x720x60p and see which one looks best with your video content.
