HD 1020 time settings and storage

I have recently installed 3 HD 1020 for sync. display.  Everything works fine as long as the clocks are set.

When the units are left powered down for more than a full day (24hours) the clocks revert back to some value that of course is unreadable due to the fact you do not give us access like the HD810's and such.

So why are my clocks not staying in time?  This paticular site does not have internet access so I need the clocks not to drift anymore than they did in the old units which was maybe a few seconds a month.

Since the advent of this new line of equipment, alot of test options we used to have are gone making this more of a propriatopry device than a user friendly device.

Since I am responsible for digital signage in our company, if I can get resolve for issues, especially this one, I will have to look to other Digital Signage systems that are more user friendly.

I await your response about the clock issue.

    Hello,

How did you set the time on the players? Did you use these files?

To verify the actual time on the unit you need to create a simple test presentation with clock zone and publish it to the unit. The time will be shown on the screen.

What firmware version is installed on the units?

Are the units running scripts or brightauthor presentations? If brightauthor, what version was used to publish presentations to the units? You can check under help - about brightauthor.

Can you please send the answers to the questions asked, or has the issue resolved itself?

I have done everything above as per instructions on videos and in manual.

Firmware version is 4.2.36 in the HD-1020

    Birghtauthor version is 3.2.0.12

again the problem is that they lose thier clock settings if not turned on for over 24 hours.

What do you mean that test options you used before don't work with the current units? I'm not sure what you are referring to.

How long have you had the 1020s up and running? Can you provide the serial #s for each unit. It almost sounds like the supercap isn't working. The realtime clock should last for weeks without power. When the units lose their clock settings, what do they revert to? Is the timezone lost as well? How much is the unit off?

Please send us the same files you run on your sd card to set the time on brightsn

The test procedures were to start the unit without a card installed and at the roku prompt when connected to the 232 port, you could poll the system, run a script, set time and dates and such.  With the new units you have removed all that capibility.

As for the clock I origionally used the sample programs you have from the web site.  I this case I hooked each unit to a network connection and let the unit go to the brightsign network clock to set the times.

Here are the seial numbers of the units in question:

    A2C2246002893

    A2C224P000551

    A2C2245002945

    A2C224A002952

I have four units to send.  I see no need to load up my network send all the video files that go with the four units.

If you absolutly need them find a different means to get them to you.  I am not going to spend time I am not being reinbersed for waiting to upload these file.  They are running fine.  I am have a problem with the clocks holding there settings not running the programs

I wasn't asking for you content, but how you had set the date and time. But, you indicated you had done so by plugging the units into your network.

You can still run commands from the prompt on your 1020. You just need to startup with a dummy script. When the unit powers up, it now runs a script in memory to scan the card for content and automatically play that content. That's why it doesn't just drop to the prompt.

I've attached a script that has one line, a print statement. If you powerup ith this, the unit will drop you to the promt, so you can run commands at the shell like you used to. Let me know if manually setting the date and time from the shell makes a difference.

I will have to get the unit back from the client.  I believe that he as already installed them into his exhibit.

    Thanks
