Hi,
I would like to use brightauthor to mange my unites (HD1010, 98 of them), the server is separated from the units by a couple of firewalls and I have to put the units IP address manually.
I would like to know what ports should be open in order for me to be able to manage them, by manage I mean distribute new properties, media and FW files.

The Brightsign uses standard http commands to connect to Internet, using the same port you use when you browse the web.
There are three ways you can do network updates currently. See this comparison matrix:

1. You can setup a unit into the BrightSign network
2. You can setup a unit to connect to a folder on a webserver and get updates published to that folder.
3. Using BrightAuthor 3.x or later, you can setup a BrightSign so BrightAuthor can publish to it directly over a local network.

2. Simple Networking ( Web servers) - Use any web server or dropbox account to update BrightSigns remotely. For step by step directions on using Simple Networking:

Simple file networking uses http transfers, not ftp. The URL you have to use must be an http url, a url to a web server, a web folder. So, if you're not actually running a webserver, it won't work. The BrightSign doesn't use ftp. Simple networking just uses whatever ports you've setup your web server on. No other ports are used for simple networking. DNS as usual is on port 53, and the time server is on port 123. And, 443 for https, 80 for http.

3. Local Networking
Publish directly to the BrightSign using BrightAuthor. See video below for details.

When using local file networking, BrightAuthor communicates with the BrightSign using http port 8080. The Bonjour protocol is used for discovery on tcp port 5354 and udp port 5353. Bonjour is not used when you add the unit by its IP address.
