I have a HD1020. I would like to load it up with different video files and then switch between them using UDP commands. This could be as simple as one command for next, another command for previous, or more complicated with commands to jump directly to files.
I can't seem to find any documentation that would help me do something like this. Can anyone help, or direct me to a forum post that already addressed this?

Excellent, thanks! I downloaded the Control Script files and I have been working with them using a UDP test tool from www.SimpleComTools.com. I have so far been able to successfully communicate with the Brightsign (model 1020) but I can't actually get it to Play any of the files. when I send a command like 'Play FOX_LOOP.mpg' i get a few responses, none that seem like errors, and the status is 'PLAY' but I get no video on-screen. I know the file works, because when I make it the 'attract' video it works just fine. Last but not least, when I send a 'Status' command, I almost always get 'INVL' which I believe is an error.
Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.
How is the brightsign connected to your display? Is it vga? It could be the video mode setting in the control script. What's it set to?
Actually, I figured this out, the UDP Test Tool was adding a CR after the command. That was throwing off the brightsign unit. I got it working with the Tool and now I have moved on to creating a PHP interface for the unit.
I am still having trouble getting the 'download' function to work tho, if anyone has any insight into that I would very much appreciate it.
can you send us the text file you are downloading using the control script?

FYI, I have enabled directory browsing on the server that I am hosting the file(s) on. It does download the text file, but then after it Analyzes it, it finds no files to download. 'Files Found (0)'
IF I recall correctly, your text file is just supposed to have the file names. So, like:
breaktime.mpg
mov1.mpg
mov2.mpg
etc
One per line. THe url is supposed to be in the script itself. There's a variable for the url.
You know, I tried it that way as well. I was playing around with all kinds of stuff, I didn't realize the text I posted still had one of my experiments in it. I did fill in the URL in the script, it's going to the correct place, because otherwise it wouldn't download the txt file. hmmm.
Is the downloads.txt file actually getting downloaded to the sd card? If you check, that file is present. Because the no files found error output comes from reading the text file, and determining that it didn't have any content listed in it to download.
Aha, so your saying that if the .txt file is NOT on the SD card, then the download isn't actually gettiing the .txt file and therefore unable to read the available downloads?
Intereting, I will check that. Seems then that the error it returns is somewhat misleading.
We use UDP to control these every day from a PHP script I wrote. Not sure how I would send you the code tho, it's far too much to post here.
We use 2 different brightsign units to control the background monitors in our studio one for horizontal monitors and one for vertical monitors.
You could do this locally, but you would have to have the PHP server installed on the local machine so it is both
