HD or XD Support for 1920x1200

HI.

I'm wondering if there are plans for a brightsign player to support 1920x1200 resolution.

Thanks in advance.

Nathan

PS

I did see this thread from 2008 that indicated the HD line did not support the resolution.

I wasn't sure if things had changed or if there might be plans for the XD line in the future. Thanks.

HD and XD lines don't support 1920x1200. Our new generation player (4K product line) will support 4K resolution and it's possible that 1920x1200 will be added to the supported list in future.

BS Support says XD2 firmware 5.1.48 will support 1920x1200x60p.

Currently there is a bug in f/w 5.1.40 that prevents this res outputting correctly.

Since the last entry in March 2014 on this subject has there been any progress in the development of XD2 or 4K firmware to enable 1920x1200 H.264 media, not images, to decode, play and output on XD2 or 4K players?

    Hi Norman;

I have had the need to play out a1920x1200 file at 1920x1200.

I could not get an HD2 or XD(1or2) to play this in April 2015.

I eventually found that a 4K would do it. 1920 x 1200 is not a VESA STD HD resolution I guess.

Brightauthor would not accept the file as H264 but was happy if I transcoded it to H265 (I used handbrake)

The 4K would play the file as H264 if I used a simple script I found on the forum somewhere. The script was a basic *play the video in the root dir* job. The 4K was the only player that I found would do it at the time of my project.

I had to use brightauthor as I needed some interactivity that I would still be scripting now if I had to go that way.

I can't remember the firmware number.

    Good Luck...

    Scott.

    Hi,

I found this sheet on the BS support website where 1920x1200px is set as a possible resolution for Brightsign HDx22 players. With BrightAuthor 4.3 I can create a presentation with screen resolution 1920x1200px. BUT I cannot include media files with resolution 1920x1200px "The resolution of the video file is not supported".

Is it still NOT possible to play video files with resolution 1920x1200px on brightsign HD players?

    Many thanks!

    Mirko

    That is correct Mirko.

While the output resolution can be 1920x1200, the video decoder supports only up to 1920x1080 resolution.

Of the currently-available hardware, only the 4K players can utilize 1920x1200 resolution media.

See http://support.brightsign.biz/hc/en-us/articles/218065137-What-video-formats-and-codecs-do-BrightSign-players-support- for supported video media types.

Is this still the case now?

XT and XD series will play 1920x1200 files but can only output 1920x1080 to the display?

XT and XD series can play 1920x1200 video files at 1920x1200x60p resolution.

To further clarify, 4K, XT3 and XD3 players can play H.265 1920x1200 video files.
    XD, HD2, XD2, 4K, LS3, HD3, XD3, XT3 players can *output* 1920x1200x60p screen resolution.

Video file decoding resolution and screen output resolution are independent, so be careful not to confuse them.

Someone needs to make a big spreadsheet with every single player, and feature option, and capability on it.

    It's getting confusing at times!
