Since BrightAuthor is still not OSX or Linux compatible, did anybody ever try to run BrightAuthor in WineSkin oder Crossover? This might be an easy and free solution for this problem.
Hello

I am trying to make this work. I can get the install file to open in winebottler but the wheels have been spinning for awhile when it tries to create the app. I may skip the app creation and see if wine will just run it if this doesn't work.
I run BrightAuthor in VirtualBox on Mac, works great.
I have BA working in Wine (just this moment)
it may have taken a while , but its working. will test it a bit more and work out a way to document it. let me know if anyone wants info
Thanks for sharing Adam. Are you running Wine in Linux, or other OS?
OSX 10.13
Possible it will work in Linux but I don’t have a Linux machine ( that isn’t headless) to test with
I’m playing with packaging it into a .app application for easy of use
Brilliant!
I'd be happy to take it for a spin, along with many other users.
I'm looking for any further details to run BrightAuthor in WineBottler/Wine. Any update on this thread? I'm having trouble creating a BrightAuthor app in WineBottler. I'm not sure if I'm choosing the right settings. Any help or insight would be appreciated!
I was just working on this again last night, i have it working well in Wine, i have been trying to package it so that i can give it to people but it continues to fail when moved to a new machine. wine bottler and cross over both fail to launch at all. I have decided to make a simple install script for Wine so the process would be to first install wine and then use my instructions / script to create a prefix and install BA. not the one click method i was hoping for but will likely do the job. once i have this working i will create a repo to share the script
This is great effort, and thanks for sharing.
There is also a Mac/Windows/Web solution that BrightSign are working on, and about to release a public Beta.

A Mac/web solution sounds great, too! Looking forward to all these potential solutions!
