Non-HDMI input solutions XD1230

I am having some issues getting a live Video Feed into an XD1230.

There is a customer supplied DirectTV box with incoming coaxial feed from the satellite dish.  Available outputs are Coaxial (already tuned, I can see the signal on this feed if I tune a TV to channel 3) and RCA (yellow, red, white).

I attempted to use the RF In option on the XD1230 with no success.  I ran the Tuner In Event with a Coaxial cable coming out of the DirectTV box into the XD1230 but the ScannedChannels.xml was essentially empty (less the default element tags with no values).

Question 1)  Any thoughts as to why this didn't work?

I have an old HD1010 and a Live Video Feed Module that I could fall back to, but the customer bought new players from me so I'd rather not supply legacy hardware.

Question 2)  Is there any way to bring the RCA signal into the XD1230?  Can I use the Live Video Module?  I realize it is not specified as compatible.  Didn't know if there was a way around this.

Also, just for fun, I tested the XD1230 with an HDMI Source In, VGA out (I'm constrained to use VGA to feed the display on this job) and did not get consistent HDMI throughput on my display.  Display showed a blue box and occasionally flashed images from the live feed.  Obviously I used the Live TV event in this test instead of the RF Tuner event as in earlier examples.

Question 3)  Any ideas what may have caused this?  Any constraints on the HDMI In when used with VGA out?  Output was set to 1360x768x60.  Only reason I include this last bit in this post is because I imagine one of the solutions to my predicament would be to convert the RCA signal from the DirectTV box to HDMI or require the customer to get a DirectTV box with an HDMI out.

Thanks in advance!
