no audio over hdmi on hd222

have 3 hd222 units synced for picture and am trying to get the audio running. the data sheet says ac3 audio is passed through, which i assume means it should be getting to my surround preamp.

the files are mp4 with ac3 audio in 5.1 format. i'm assuming this should be doable. my patching is set up to run hdmi out of the master hd222 to the preamp, which passes the picture through to a projector. that part works. i do get the picture on screen. the audio is not being detected, though.

what am i missing here?

thanks,

BabaG

that would be over 6gb of files, the mp4 and the ts.

here's the log from the attempt to play the ts file.

According to the log, your TS file is broken somehow and crashing the player.

Even if TSmuxer uses FFMPEG, there's no guarantee it's using FFMPEG in the same way as the command line I posted,

If that still doesn't work, send us a download link for the original MP4 on Copy.com - if you're not already signed up, signing up through this link will give you 5GB additional storage, for a total of 20GB once you install the client. https://copy.com?r=Cvu31t

You'll probably need to install the PC client to upload the files (the web interface has a size limit), then you can share a link and uninstall the PC client afterward.

just to let you know, i did a test. i have the published files on my laptop in a 'publish' folder. i just had the brightsign player trying to play the file. picture is fine, no audio pass through hdmi.

i moved the hdmi cable from the brightsign player to the laptop, navigated to the file on the laptop and played it in windows media player. played fine. picture fine through hdmi. audio also detected by preamp and correctly played l, r, c channels.

all i did was move the connection from the brightsign hdmi out to the laptop hdmi out.

    will look at copy.com soon.

Haven't seen it yet...  Right-click the file/folder, go to Copy Actions, then choose Copy Public Link.

Then paste into an email to support@brightsign.biz along with reference to HD222 HDMI audio

problem is semi-solved. upgrading to beta firmware allowed player 1of 3 to pass audio to preamp/extractor. players 2 and 3, which carry files that have the same audio, do not pass the audio through to the preamp/extractor. this denies some backup and alternate patching options. it does, however, at least allow for the presentation of material.

    thanks,

    BabaG

"Check that your presentation is set for HDMI Passthrough on the audio output (in Zone Properties) - it defaults to Stereo which will give you no audio output at all if the source is multichannel AC3 (or DTS, or any other format the BrightSign Player does not have a decoder for)."

This comment helped me getting audio from HDMI.  Thank you!
