Extra Audio equipment in sync?

Hi,

I need to create video wall with 18 screens and have a video with audio playback in sync and seamless loop.

I will create content so I can export it using suggested codecs and containers.Each media player will have it's own chunk of a larger video.

As far as I know I can achieve this with BrightSign if I play audio only from one (master) media player. However considering the size of a video wall it could be to quiet and odd to have audio coming from just one screen.

Could I connect extra amplifier and speakers to boost the volume and spread audio in space? I would install one speaker on each side of video wall and have 'master' screen in the middle of video wall also playing audio.

To do that would I connect speakers to the screen connected to master media player (XD232) or  straight to the master media player. If it is even possible at all?

Maybe someone already have first hand experience with this?

    From our experience with BrightSign BrightWall, audio should be encoded into all 18 video files, to prevent possible different latency, between a player playing video and audio, and a player that only plays video.

    I would recommend using amp and speakers, connected to analog output on one of the players. On the XD232 it is the green 3.5mm jack at the back. (not the blue jack at the front)

     

    Make sure NO audio is coming out of the displays' built-in speakers, by checking the BrightWall Properties -> Audio to Analog Stereo Out, and unchecking HDMI.

    If you use audio from both Analog Out, and HDMI at the same time, you may get undesired audio delay effect.

    It all depends on the type of audio content, and the impact you are trying to achieve. 

    You may find it sufficient to play audio from all built-in speakers over HDMI, without the use of external speakers.

    If your audio has deep bass, you may want to use external speakers only.

    Since you have separate video files for each display, you could also use a traditional synchronized presentation set rather than a Regular BrightWall.

    Traditional Synchronized presentations would allow you to send audio from each player to every display.
    Just be aware that any sync glitch would cause echo/delay effect, so it might be safer to use a single output.

    Since it sounds like you want to use the display's speakers, see if your displays allow you to select the audio PC/Line Input for audio (some do even with HDMI input, but sometimes only on specific input connections).  If so you could run the analog output from the Master to an audio distribution amp and run the same audio feed to as many of the displays as you want/need and still use BrightWall which is easier to manage than 18 separate presentations.

    Wouldn't there be sync issue / delay between analog sound and digital video?

    Additional question related to the topic: I mentioned using XD232. However due to the budget restrains I am considering LS422.  According to the documentation it looks like this model would work as well for this job.

    They are separate decoders, so there could be a slight timing difference between HDMI and analog, but not to the degree that it's a noticeable sync difference.  What you will notice is the audible audio weirdness if you have both analog and HDMI audio playing simultaneously as Udi warned about.

    Also keep in mind that the LS422 can only decode at up to 1080p30 (the signal to the display, of course, can be 60p - just the decoding is only up to 30p).

    Thank you for clarifying this for me.

    We only need to play a single video per screen and 30 frames per second will be enough for us. So budget-wise it seams as a good option.
