Any news on the ETA for BrightAuthor 4.4?
Looking very (very very) forward for the (missing) native support on transitions in MRSS Feeds.

Alex This feature has not been implemented yet. As a workaround, you can create a data feed (xml file) with images, matching the structure below:

</rss>Add a URL to xml file in your BrightAuthor presentation (File > Presentation Properties > Data Feeds > Add Data Feed), select "Content for Image List".
Then add Image List object to presentation, select "populate from data feed" option, and specify necessary transition for the images.

Yes I’m aware of this workaround, we already had contact about it.
We use dynamic MRSS feeds with images and videos combined in a feed.
And this workaround does not support this.
We currently work with separate autorun publish files which is extremely unpleasant and needs to be done with every new release…
I was informed we should aspect full support in BA 4.4 so I’m extremely looking forward as we have several projects coming that would need this 'feature'.

I had the same problem you did, so I wrote a plugin to deal with it.
On the entry to your mrss state send the plugin command transition!"x" x being the number of transition you want, see attached.
As you're already editing the autorun you know about transition mapping, but for anyone else the transitions available to you are:
1st entry = 1 and Last = 19
Plugin Name = mrssUtils
It should give you substantially more longevity than the time between autoruns, at least until it makes its way into BA.

Yes, you add it as you described. See the screenshot attached, the plugin name must be the same.
And send the plugin message as per the screenshot in my 1st post.
If sent from the entry state of your mrss feed the transition choice takes effect on transition number 2.

Unfortunately for some reason it doesn’t work.
I’ve tested it it on a XD1230 (multizone layout) and on a LS422 (single zone layout).
I could see that on the XD1230 a different zone with a different effect was effected.
But I was not able to see the needed transitions in the preferred zone.
Although your explanation and the rest looks fairly simple I was not able the results.
Can you perhaps export a project / demo, .zip it and put it online so I can see in detail what did wrong?
Is there also a way the influence the transition duration?

The players we use only have a single zone for fullscreen playback of content as such the plugin was looking for zone index[0] or zone 1 as such works exactly as expected.
I've made a really quick mod to the plugin to search via zone name and state name.
command structure:
transition!"zone name"!"state name"!"transition type"!"transition duration"
e.g.
transition!mrss!test1!16!2000
would set zone named "mrss" to transition type "16" state name "test 1" with a duration of 2 seconds for transtions.
Haven't been able to do much testing short of a quick publish. The project is made for an LS unit but only tested on XD player, I don't have one of those available.
Project has 2 zones with the same feed and different transitions.
A quick google search on the BS site for this post came up with this also:
Made my work kind of redundant, not sure why it didn't show up in my searches for mrss topics in the past! Or on the BS GitHub.
Alas, Hope one of the two works for your needs.

Brilliant! I’m so happy with this solution!
I have tested it with the XD1230 multizone and LS422 single zone.
(BA 4.3.016 FW 6.0.51)
Different files , different zones, different durations and transitions.
All worked fine!
I’m aware of the other / 2nd workaround but at some moment it didn’t work.
I’m very familiair with the BA program but writing plugins, scripting etc is not my cup of tea.
So I left that solution behin and was hoping / waiting on a native solution.
And with your solution its able to target the preferred zones!
Its great that you did this because its saves me al lot of frustration and time on editing published autorun scripts.
Are you a programmer or so?
If I have another question for something similar can I pm you?
It doesn’t have to be for free, maybe I can help out in return.

Shaun All good, we'll probably role out the duration and zone targeted changes ourselves.
It should work until it's built into BA provided there are no drastic system changes to the Autorun mechanism before then.
Sorry but I don't really do one off request, any plugins/workarounds are made at the time around my current project requirements.
I would suggest contacting BS support they can probably point you in the right direction to someone who can write you one on request.

Eric The MRSS Transition plugin does not seem to work anymore on recent release BA 4.6.0.35.
I’ve tested this on several players and with several presentations.
BA 4.6.0.18 seem to be the last stable version for this.
Very sadly. The plugin worked like a charm! And there is still no native MRSS transition support on this from BA. -
Eric Transition plugin is still working with new 4.6.0.35 and 4.6.0.36.
I think / assume for some reason the plugin file got corrupted or so.
After overwriting the one on BSN with an older version it worked fine again.I’ve made a ‘community’ request, to have native MRSS Transition via BA, on the new BrightSign community section for this.
