Is it possible to OUTPUT a contact closure through GPIO? I'm pretty familiar with BrightAuthor GPIO commands but it's the hardware side I'm confused on. It seems that any two GPIO pins I connect to are always jumped - even when the unit is off. I need to have two wires to be open until the command is sent and then closed. I hope that makes sense.

^UD\_$ Sounds like you would need a relay, controlled via GPIO.
