Hi, i have purchased one XD 1132 to test the live TV feature for a sports bar and i want to buy 6 more players if it works.
But how do i get the tv signal to the player? I have managed to display some content throught BrightSign Author software on the TV, but could display the TV signal, like in the demo on your website. There is also no manual which explain how the player needs to be configured and connected to the TV.
Please help.
Hardware wise, you would need feed the Cable box HDMI signal into the BrightSign player.
The cable box video signal, would then be combined with any content that you would generate on the player.
For that you would use the "Live Video" BrightAuthor state element, listed in the Media Library, under "other".

Most TVs do not output video signal. What you are after can be done a little differently.
I'm assuming that your TV is fed via coax cable, and not through HDMI.
If there is a cable box in the mix, you should use its HDMI output, and run it into the player's HDMI input.
The player's HDMI output would then be fed to the TV HDMI input.
The player in effect sits between the cable box and the TV.

But doest are most of the TV constructed like that? I just wondered thats its not that easy to get a tv signal to the player than?

I have never seen a display with an HDMI out. I am sure there is one but that would be unusual. Assuming you are using a consumer/prosumer display, that is unlikely.
What is the source on the other end of the coax? Is it a Dish/Directv receiver? Or a local cable company demodulator set top box? Any of those devices would have an HDMI output that would connect to the XD1132 HDMI In. This isn't an ATSC signal is it (from an antenna on your roof)? Otherwise there are boxes that will take an unencrypted QAM/coax signal and decode to HDMI video but you would probably have to rent it from your cable provider.
The XD1132 is a great product and we have used the external video feature in our projects before. Very handy.
Here in Germany the coax cable is connecting the antenna with the TV, i mean the coax cable is coming directly from the antenna connection, which is on the wall, and goes directly into the TV antenna input.
Maybe the scart can output it to HDMI?
BrightSign used to offer the XD1230 which had coax input.
If you don't need to change channels often, than that could have been a solution for you.
You could probably still find the 1230 in stock somewhere.
I wonder what would Brightsign suggest that you should do...

Its really strange because most TVs here in bars are default consumer products.
I cant believe that the brightsign player for $650 can not handle that or requiere to buy additional products to display ads on TV screen.
