I have read the link for the color status indicators but there is no mention of the Gray question mark. How long does a player have to fail check in to get the gray question mark? What other condition can cause it?
Thank you,

Thank you,
Usually it means the player does not have an active subscription, or has not checked in to BrightSign Network in a very long time (weeks).
You can find out more by clicking Properties for the player and checking the Advanced tab. The error log will tell you which one it is. If it is reporting error 403, the player does not have an active subscription.
The subscription is good. I know the issue is prolonged failure to check in. I was hoping you could tell me precisely how long.
It's not showing "No connection since _____" in the Advanced tab, under Error log?
What's the serial number of the player?
Apologies..I can see that information so I know how long the player has been offline. The player has been offline since April 20. What I was asking is exactly how many days must elapse before the player gets the gray question mark?
I have hundreds of players deployed that have not been on a network since I configured them and shipped them. We are still waiting on the customer's network to be complete. So if the player is offline for 8 days does it get the gray question mark? 10? 12? 30?
Hi Allen,
We did some checking and here's how it works:
If the player has a subscription and is not connecting to BrightSign Network,
Red status
Error log reports "No connection since ____"
If the player does not have a subscription and is connecting to BrightSign Network,
Gray status
Error log reports Error 403.
If the player does not have a subscription and is not connecting to BrightSign Network,
Gray status
Error log reports "No connection since ____"
So to answer your question more directly, a player would go from Red to Gray status when it subscription expires.
Note that if player currently has no subscription but has a subscription assigned to it, it won't pick up the new subscription until it successfully connected to BrightSign Network, so it would remain in Gray status until that point.
"Note that if player currently has no subscription but has a subscription assigned to it, it won't pick up the new subscription until it successfully connected to BrightSign Network, so it would remain in Gray status until that point."
That is the key. That explains it. Sorry for my poorly worded question.
Hi all, I've got a similar problem.
Player shows grey questionmark since this night.

But the info says that the subscription status is active, but other info says that it is not activated?
Is it possible that the player is simple not powered? Normally the icon shows red in that case. I never had this questionmark before.
