slideinterval command not working

I am trying to set up a simple looping playlist with eight seconds in between each image.  I have used the standard slideinterval # command and have not been able to get any results other than the default.  I have done a ton of troubleshooting and can't get any different results, but feel like I must be missing something basic. 

I also tried getting the results I wanted with a CSV interactive playlist and was almost successful, but I couldn't get it to loop.

Here are the contents of my card:

menu01.jpg
menu02.jpg
menu03.jpg
menu04.jpg
autoplay.bsp

And here are the contents of my autoplay file:

slideinterval 8
menu01.jpg
menu02.jpg
menu03.jpg
menu04.jpg

    This is a workflow that we have never used but I'll try to help anyway.

    It is possible that your autoplay.bsp file is being ignored, and the player is playing whatever media file that it can find on the SD card.

    Please share some more information: Player model, firmware.

    Are you on Mac or Windows?

     

    As a first troubleshooting step, I would change the order of files in the autoplay.bsp, and see if it affects the actual playback order.

    For example:

    slideinterval 8
    menu02.jpg
    menu03.jpg
    menu04.jpg

    If next time you reboot, menu02 plays first, you would know that your autoplay.bsp is not being ignored.

    Feel free to zip the content of your SD, and share it here, so we can take a look.

    Thanks so much, I am working on a Mac, 10.11.5.  The Roku is HD222 v5.1.33.

    So I just went to try your troubleshooting suggestion and it is not ignoring the file.  I took out one of the files on the bsp file list and it played them correctly, ignoring the one I took out and waiting the correct amount of time before switching files.  Then when I added the one I had taken out back in and changed the interval time slightly it worked. 

    No clue what happened!  Nothing different than I have been doing all day other than taking the file out and adding it back in.  It will probably need further adjustment tomorrow so I will report back if there are any further issues.

    Probably would not hurt to upgrade the firmware to the latest production version

    Also, make sure that you edit your file, using a text editor, in plain text.

    OS X TextEdit, may not be the best choice...

    There are many free text editors available. TextWrangler is the one I go to.

    It can show invisible characters, which can help in troubleshooting player's strange behavior.
