Map GPIO to Virtual Keyboard Press

Is there a way in BS Author to map GPIO to emulate a keyboard event?

I'd like to connect a button to GPIO #1 to pass an ArrowUp (Keycode 38) keyboard press to a web app running on my BrightSign player.
