BrightAuthor 5.0 issue

I am using the BrightAuthor 5.0.1.9 but in general any 5.0 version seem to be having this issue when publishing.

when publishing to any unit, getting this error "Error uploading file _deviceIdWebPage.html to the BrightSign" message and fails.  what is this error and how can it be resolved.  I can publish with any of the BA 4.x versions without issue but it appears that the XD235 model, which we recently purchased, are not compatible with BA 4.x version and forced to use the BA 5.x but can't publish due to the error.  any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
The error you are encountering with BrightAuthor 5.x when trying to publish to a BrightSign unit, particularly the "_deviceIdWebPage.html" upload failure, is likely due to a file-related issue or a bug in the BrightAuthor 5.x software that affects the communication between the software and the device.
Here are some possible reasons and troubleshooting steps:
    1. Compatibility Issues Between BrightAuthor and XD235
The XD235 model requires BrightAuthor 5.x for compatibility, which is why your BA 4.x is not working. However, if BA 5.x fails to publish, it might be due to how the newer version handles file uploads or device settings.
    2. Check Firmware Version
Ensure that your XD235 unit is running the latest firmware version. BrightAuthor 5.x may expect a specific version of the firmware on the BrightSign devices. You can update the firmware through the BrightSign website or BrightAuthor's settings.
Go to BrightSign’s firmware download page and download the latest version for your XD235 model.
Update the firmware by using an SD card or through BrightAuthor.
    3. Test Network and FTP Settings
The error may also be related to network or FTP upload issues during the publishing process. Verify the following:
Network connection: Ensure the BrightSign unit is properly connected to the network. You can test the connection by pinging the device or trying a different method to upload files manually.
FTP settings: Check the FTP settings in BrightAuthor to confirm that the device is reachable and that the necessary permissions are in place.
    4. Clear Publishing Cache and Temporary Files
In some cases, clearing the temporary files or publishing cache within BrightAuthor 5.x may resolve the issue. BrightAuthor might be trying to upload outdated or corrupted files.
Try publishing to a different folder, or create a fresh project with updated files.
    5. Manually Create the _deviceIdWebPage.html File
If the issue persists and seems to be related to this specific file (_deviceIdWebPage.html), it could be helpful to check if this file exists or is being generated correctly.
Look at the project directory and see if this file is being generated when you publish.
Try creating a simple HTML file with this name manually in your project folder and reattempt the publish process.
    6. BrightAuthor 5.x Update or Bug
BrightAuthor 5.x has had various bugs reported, and it is possible that your version (5.0.1.9) contains unresolved issues related to file uploads.

Check if an update is available for BrightAuthor 5.x. You might want to upgrade to the latest version of BrightAuthor to see if the issue is resolved.
Alternatively, you can contact BrightSign support to report the issue and verify if they have a fix or patch available for this specific problem.
    7. Test Publishing to a Different Unit
To rule out any unit-specific issue, try publishing to a different XD235 or BrightSign model if available. This can help confirm if the issue is isolated to the unit or if it’s a broader problem with BrightAuthor.
    8. Downgrade or Rollback Attempt
If BrightAuthor 5.0.1.9 continues to cause issues, consider testing earlier versions of 5.x (such as 5.0.0 or 5.0.1) to see if the issue persists. Alternatively, you can use BA 4.x for older units and 5.x only for the XD235.
    Best Regards

The error "Error uploading file _deviceIdWebPage.html to the BrightSign" likely indicates a network connectivity, software, or player configuration issue. Check your network, update BrightAuthor and player firmware, verify file permissions, and ensure compatibility with your XD235 model.
