LPCM on Brightsign 2025

Hi I was wondering if there was any update on whether/which Brightsigns are capable of playing multichannel PCM audio.

I had seen talk of using a plugin to get multi channel audio but I can not find any info about that.

An update for 2025 would be appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Daizy, for the reply, but I am afraid that is no more clear than any other brightsign support on this matter. I am looking to see if LPCM multichannel unucompressed audio (so no dolby, AC3 or EAC3), 8 channel over HDMI is supported with video on any of the brightsign players.

    Thanks though.

    Hi Steve
    See here under Notes

    https://docs.brightsign.biz/advanced/audio-formats#WLf2q

I've successfully used this plugin with latest HD224 firmware and LPCM audio, up to 7.1 from the HDMI.

    Hi Steve,

Bsound is right, with the Plugin in Autorun and Audio set to "Fixed Audio" and HDMI to "Passthrough" Multichannel LPCM with either 5.1 or 7.1 over HDMI is possible. It even doesn't add the low pass filter on the LFE, so it's 8 fullrange audio channels.

You can add two more channels if you add a stereo file in a second audio-only zone (synchronized to the content in the video zone with zone message events) and route the audio zone to the analog audio output, so the player can output 10 synchronized uncompressed audio tracks at once.

However, not every HDMI Extractor that (according to the specs) is supposed to extract the multichannel PCM tracks from the HDMI passthrough seems to work correctly. This one (Roline) worked for me, this one (Speaka) however didn't.

A couple of things for me to add here.  I've had a lot of success with the multiPcm plugin and the CPLUS-V11PE8 on HD224.

However, just got our first HD225 - and all multichannel output is downmixed to stereo.  The plugin seems to not be working correctly on HD5 series.  Brightsign Support have replicated it and logged it as a bug.  Hoping for a solution soon.

Have you heard of any updates on this bug? I have a dozen XT245 players that I desperately (and quickly) need 8ch LPCM output to QSYS NV-21-HU decoders over HDMI.

No solution as yet but I am appealing to them to escalate it.  Will post your comment in my support thread.

No solution as yet, but staying positive because...
    1) In my support ticket Lyndon acknowledged the bug and gave it a number OS-16912, and said he was hoping to raise it in a bug review meeting (mid December)
    2) Brandon (the multiPcm script author) acknowledged the issue in this thread here as affecting all Series 5.  That was on Dec 9 2025.  Note that user BabaG in that thread is having separate and distinct issues with authoring surround on XD234.

I have used the multiPcm plugin many many times on HD224 and XD1033.  It's just the Series 5 where it doesn't work.  Perhaps 6 also.  I hope hope hope they can fix it.

Bit of an update on the multichannel series 5 situation.  I've had some direct engagement with Brightsign.  We've tried some fixes and tests but as yet no success, I'm still very hopeful though.

In the meantime for USA users, I've discovered this version of the aforementioned CPLUS extractor, for the USA market.  Just bought two of them, good guy and easy to deal with.  Instant multichannel LPCM audio with the plugin and series 3 & 4 players.
