AC3 5.1 videoformat h264 mov?

Is this restriction still valid, if so, how come? We would really need to make a h264/265 mp4/mov with ac3 audio, thanks!

"To play videos with surround sound, you must encode an AC3 audio layer along with an MPEG2 video layer."

  No, you can use 5.1 with h.264/265 and aac.

  aac can do 5.1 as well. I meant aac. Most users I've seen doing surround are using ac3.
