BrightSign Network to Local File Networking

I have a unit (4K1142) that was originally configured last year for BrightSign network. The unit was offline since last April due to installation delays on the project. The end user decided to switch to a Local File Network setup instead of BSN, as they liked the presentation interface more via BrightAuthor than BSN.

I created setup files for the unit in BA for Local Networking, inserted the card  & rebooted, and published sessions locally without issue.

Now, a couple of days later, the unit was experiencing issues connecting in BrightAuthor... the first time it's added to the Manage Tab under LFN, it connects. But after attempting to push content, the unit goes into a weird cycle loop where it just reboots and BA says it cannot connect after that.

Yesterday we logged into BA, and the under Active Presentation, the unit was back in a BSN player group that was created last year. It appears as if the unit was re-activated on BSN. I thought pushing a new setup file for Local File Networking would erase any BSN registrations, but I guess not?

I cannot delete the unit off the BSN account, it just keeps re-appearing in Unassigned group. It's now in a weird place where we can't push any content over Local File Networking.

If somebody could recommend what to do here, that would be great. I'm assuming a factory reset and re-configure for Local File Network?

Thanks,

Al

Worst case scenario is that you format the SD card and put the factory default script on it and completely wipe the player.  From that point you can make it BSN or local.  But that means someone has to go touch the player.

Would factory defaulting it from the Web GUI essentially be the same as doing what you stated? I don't know about the "factory default script".... thanks.

I think that the answer is yes but there might be a caveat based on your specific situation.  I would refer to this forum post that seems to be a comprehensive look at how to perform a factory default.  There is a link to the factory default script.

I've tried factory reset on a 4K242 that was configured for Brightsign network and the Factory reset does not work.  I ran the script per the instructions/link above and configuration settings remain on the player.  I have a support ticket open.  If anybody else has had this scenario please let me know how a player can be set back to factory default so that it may be configured for local networking.  Thanks

So, to be clear, you ran the script, saw the "Deleting Recovery settings" and "Settings Deleted. Remove script from flash card, and Restart" messages, created a New set of Setup Files set for Local File Networking , put these on a SD card and booted the player with these, and it still didn't work?
