remote control support

 Hello Brightsign support - regarding the remote controls for use with the 3.5mm IR dongle (IRRX1)

 

is the RC1001 remote control the only remote control that will work? or will other makes / models also work? I am asking because I would like a remote control wih number buttons too.

    Brightsign has a plugin you can use in a test presentation that will show the code thrown by the remote you fire at the sensor.  We used that to get the codes from an LG remote, the Roku Sound Bridge remote, a Samsung remote, and a few others.  Program those codes into your project and done.

     

    The only remote I could not get to work was for NEC.  And I had so many others to choose from that I just stopped troubleshooting it.  If we deploy signage using NEC displays I will have to work on that again.

    It is one of the two projects at the link below.  I got them from BrightSign.  It has been several years since I tried them.  Open and then save each through your latest version of BrightAuthor to make sure they will play.

    OK Thanks for the link.

    - just to update this - the helpful folk at Pixels UK were able to confirm the hardware is working, using a .br that displays the IR code on screen (and making the red LED light up on the dongle! that has not happened before).  . 

     

    I added your plugin to my presentation, and realised that the navigation part of my presentation is not compatible with Plugin Message Events ( which seems to be what is needed for this 3.5mm IR receiver to work?)  - because the main navigation on my presentation is an Interactive Menu  - and the navigation around that is limited to the dropdowns of GPIO, Serial, Keyboard, Remote, Zone, and unfortunately not Plugin Message Events. 

     

    What I really need is a solution for the 3.5mm IR input mapped to "Remote" input events within Brightauthor - do Brightsign have a solution for this?
