LS423 wont play WUXGA videos

We have a LS423 setup to play a single 1920 X 1200 video and when I try to chose our video from the file tab, I get a message saying The resolution of the video file is not supported. Video is an mp4 in H264.

replacing the video with a 1920 x1080 video works with no problem.

Using Brightauthor 4.7.0.20 with firmware 7.0.60

Specs for the LS 423 do say it supports 1920 X 1200.

Please help ASAP

You're confusing media files with output.

The LS423 can only decode and play media files up to 1920x1080.

You can output a signage canvas up to 1920x1200.

To play your 1920x1200 media file, you will need a player capable of decoding 4K (4K, XD3, XT3) and it needs to be encoded as H.265 (HEVC).

According to this page, it needs to be 1920x1200x60p:

    http://docs.brightsign.biz/display/DOC/Supported+Video+Modes

Maybe try a video with the frame rate at 60 instead of 30?

Hi John, I did see that page too. Still, I find it strange that it would work in 60p and not in 30p.

Maybe someone from Brightsign can explaine?

    Thanks.

    Hello Brandon,

I am in the same situation right now (same firmware and Bright Author version). I am too confused by the ability to output to 1920 x 1200 yet not decode and play files of that resolution. I understand the distinction, but I am quite curious as to what is the purpose of being able to output to 1920x1200 if one cannot playback such files then?

It allows output to 1920x1200-native displays without distortion from the display's processing, and you can, for example, have a 120-pixel high ticker above or below a 1920x1080 video at native resolution.
