Legacy Model Player - Modern Replacement?

Hello all,

I was recently handed a project that specified a legacy Brightsign Player. What would be the most compatible player for me to use?  We will be connecting the player to an ELO touchscreen, and running a custom program to push the interactive.

(Model: 4K1042)

Thank you for any advice the community may have.

Cheers,

Chris M

    Chris and John,

Note that most touch screens connect via USB. The more current models that support 4K and have a USB port are:

    XD1033, XD1034

XT1143, XT1144 (also has POE and HDMI In)

    Regards.

Probably the XD233 is the closest equivalent to the 4K1042 right now.

This would also be a more cost effective choice with 4K content and Touch Capability, as long as the rest of it's specifications meet your needs.

There is also the "Series 3" XD1033, XT243, and XT1143 players, or the newer "Series 4" XD234, XD1034, XT244, and XT1144 players, which all cost more than the XD233 and have some more high end features that you may or may not need.

You should still get plenty of life out of a Series 3 player for years to come, if you don't really need the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content capability of the Series 4 players.

Sorry, my bad, I thought all the XD and XT models had USB, I didn't realize that these were removed from all the XD/XT 2xx players.

The 2xx model players never had USB.

The 1xx model players had GPIO but no Ethernet.
The 2xx models add Ethernet, newer series have GPIO, older series did not.
The 10xx models add USB, Serial, and GPIO when not already present.
The 11xx models add HDMI input.
The 12xx models add RF input.

Actually,  I am reviewing the video files now, and it looks like the 4K will not be needed.

What model would be most similar to the legacy product, but would not need to be 4K?

    Thank you again.

I would not suggest anything less than the XD1033 for touch presentations and especially for anything with HTML.  While some will say the HD1023 is good for HD video, we have some issues with video glitches when displaying some portrait video that coincides with other things happening in the player that load the CPU (health checks, RSS/Dynamic playlist updates, etc).

And either of the gen4 players available will work.

To clarify, if I were doing landscape 1920X1080(60p) touch presentations with no HTML, I would be OK with the HD1023.  Anything else and I would play it safe with the XD233/1033 or the XT series and anything gen4.
