Wifi on LS424

Hi everyone,

We've just bought a bunch of LS424's with their WiFi modules (which we will control via a server running Bright Author), The firmware they shipped with is 8.0.6.6.

All 3 of these units are refusing to allow setup via WiFi (on boot they do display the WiFi modules MAC address, but no IP address), and when attempting the setup over ethernet takes 10+ minutes for the diagnostics test to complete (it gets upset as our corporate firewalls don't respond to ping on the gateway). When we finally get the whole way through to the publishing/firmware options on setup - it refuses to complete as the units can't detect their own firmware.

Has anyone had this problem? is there an older firmware around that I can test on one of the units to see if that helps get us through setup? We've got a ton of other Brightsign units (XD series) working 100% ok.

    You could do the configuration using BA instead of the on-board interface.  We have configured a very large number of players using BA.

    Hi Allen,

    I tried that - and the Brightsign unit is able to connect to the WiFi! so a step closer,

    However, I now get 10 red LED flashes which according to the KB is:

    The autorun script encountered a load/run error (commonly caused by a locked or NTFS-formatted SD card)

    The MicroSD is unlocked and FAT32 formatted.

    From logging into the web server on the unit and pulling up the log, all I can see thats related to this is -

    I don't know what the issue might be.  I would focus on the config files and getting connected to the WiFi first.  But be sure to build to the correct player model when making Presentations.

     

    We have deployed thousands of BrightSign players.  I say this to give context to my next statement...we only use BrightSign sold SD cards.  One of my largest screw-ups was deploying a network using a high quality SD card not sold by BrightSign.  Fortunately it was a small network so replacing the cards only cost a small fortune.  Yes we have used other cards not sold by BrightSign and they have worked but I no longer roll the dice.  And of course this may have nothing to do with the card.

    Is this a stand-alone player or on a BSNEE network or on BrightSign's BSN?

    The WiFi is all up and running, its now just this config fie (the config files were created by Brightsign Author).

    This is good to know about the SD card, I bought the Samsung EVO 128GB microSD for the LS4 (it was recommended by a third party so I didnt look into it any further) - so that will be my next check (they do work totally fine in the XD models though).

    The three LS4's will join an internal network run by Brightsign Author (along with our currently operational XD's) so are running in the local network sharing method - but are not connected to BSN.
