Is there a technique to update the custom splash screen without having to perform BrightAuthor setup? I attempted to replace the customSplashScreen image from the SD with a new JPG (leaving out the .jpg file extension), but the player did not seem to receive/take the updated image.

Monica Knutson What is the dimensional size of your JPG image?

The above has the tips for creating the custom splash screen logo in case you hadn't seen this link yet.
Also, ensure your JPG meets the BrightSign spec:
The following image types are supported on BrightSign players:
- BMP: 8, 16, 24, and 32 bit
- PNG: 8, 16, and 24 bit
- JPEG*
- The maximum supported image resolution is 4096x2160x32bpp for XTx43, 4Kx42, and XDx33 models, while other models support images up to 2048x1280x32bpp.
Tip: You can increase the maximum allowed width of images by sacrificing height (e.g. using a 4096x640x32bpp image on non-4K players is allowed). You can also increase the maximum width/height by reducing the bpp value (e.g. using a 4096x1280x16bpp on non-4K players is allowed).
*JPEG files that use the CMYK, grayscale, or black & white color spaces are not supported.

Monica Knutson Sorry for the third post... I'm having more thoughts. ;o)
In your setup file - depending on how you have the networking setup - you'll want to ensure that this line says "true":
<useCustomSplashScreen>True</useCustomSplashScreen>

Phil Starner The link you sent is great, and I have successfully included my custom jpg 355x355 file using this technique.
https://brightsign.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218067137-How-do-I-use-a-custom-splash-screen-
But I want to replace (the previously successful image) with another image and not have to use the above setup process. The idea is to avoid running setup again on 30+ Brightsign players (all with custom IP settings for local file networking)

Monica Knutson As a test... try replacing with this one.

(unzip of course...)

Phil Starner Curious, what would be the replacement process?

Monica Knutson I'm thinking you may need to redo the setup files anyway. Once the BrightSign has been setup, I believe that those files are flashed into an onboard chip, because the custom logo still shows up, even without an SD card in it.
However... in a previous thread a couple of years ago, @Lyndon was able to provide a BrightScript autorun.brs file to change the logo via scripting. You'd likely have to put the script on a new SD card, run the script, then swap your card back.

Phil Starner Which is nearly the same thing. Ok, thanks for your input Monica, I appreciate it.

Monica Knutson Exactly. If you have the original setup files somewhere, you may be able to swap in the updated JPG to the SD card and it would use that.
