4K Images on 4K1142 player

I am trying to play images on my Brightsign 4K1142 player using the Image List, but every time I add them to my Image List, I'm getting a message that the highest resolution that images can be displayed in is 1920x1080. Why is that?

A note that I bought this player BECAUSE it was a 4K player.. it even has 4K in the model number... so, I'll be a little upset if you tell me that the maximum resolution is 1920x1080.

The 4K model series players, now two generations old as of this writing, were the first to support 4K video playback.
For larger-than-1920x1080 still images on the 4K model series players you need to use a plugin or a Background Image zone to display them using the 4K video decoder.

    See How do I display 4K images/stills on a 4Kx42 (4K242, 4K1042, 4K1142) player? for more information.

    Brandon,

I saw this post in the forum.. but can I still utilize fade transitions using this method? This post does not document how.

Stating that the player is two generations old is immaterial.. the unit should be able to do 4K playback, as that's what was advertised and that's what I paid for..

The video player supports fade in/out, but not transitions, so you wouldn't be able to do transitions between 4K (larger-than-1920x1080) images.

The age of the player is relevant here since the 4K model family was introduced in 2014 and 4K/UHD availability was in its infancy.

I ran through The Internet Archive's snapshot of the website to refresh my memory and as far as I am aware, the 4K model advertising never mentioned support for larger than 1920x1080 images, the image support remained the same as the existing non-4K-capable players.
