Serial Data in/out of XD-1132

Greetings:

I'm working on a project with an external FM Radio Receiver which has a 9-pin RS-232 connection plugged into my Brightsign XD-1132 9-pin RS-232.  If you give the Receiver a  command of "RT" it will respond with data.  I would like for my XD-1132 to give this command then display the return data on my display.  Could you help me accomplish this?

In properties, I have port as 0, Baud Rate 115200, Data bits 8, Parity None, Stop bits 1

    are you familiar with using brightautor to send serial commands, and receive  serial input? You can use the brigtauthor software to send and receive serial. You can assign serial input to a variable. and, you can display variables in your project.
