Resolution issues

I am working with a client to fix some resolution issues on a pair of BrightSign players. The system is a pair of XD234 players going to a pair of LG 55SE3KE-BK screens set in portrait mode.

The problem they are having is that after a couple of years of good performance (so I'm told, it was installed before my time), the images are suddenly grainy and suffering resolution issues. I did discover that some of their presentations were set to 1920x1080x60i instead of 1920x1080x60p, which would have caused problems for that particular screen. Apparently, setting the presentations to 1920x1080x60p hasn't cured it.

I'm nearing the end of my BrightSign "expertise" so I'm hoping that someone can make a suggestion for me. I'm getting close to just wiping the SD cards and starting afresh.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Nick

Your BrightSign resolution issues, after years of good performance, likely stem from hardware degradation or firmware/setting conflicts, rather than just the presentation's progressive scan. Start by swapping out HDMI cables with new, high-quality ones, as they often degrade. Then, verify the BrightSign OS firmware is up-to-date and that both the player's global display settings and the LG screens' input settings are firmly set to 1920x1080x60p. If all else fails, a full power cycle or a factory reset/firmware reinstallation on the players might be necessary, as these are more impactful than just wiping the content SD cards.
