I'm looking to create a video player with a physical scrub wheel. Essentially a single video that a user can scrub back and forth frame by frame in a sort of manual slow motion type of feel. Imagine watching something like a rocket launch and in key moments there are text "bubbles" with information so you can scrub and stop when you see them. I can do this all on a PC, but would much rather use a BS if possible. Does anyone know if this is even a possibility worth looking into?

Murphy Crew This sounds like a great idea. A physical scrub wheel would make the experience feel hands-on and a lot more engaging than a normal on-screen timeline. Some kiosk-style video players and museum displays do support external controls, so it’s worth checking if any of those systems can work with a jog wheel.
You could also build your own setup by connecting a USB jog wheel or a rotary encoder to a small PC or media device, then using software that can move through the video frame by frame. That would let the wheel act like a direct scrub controller.
If you want something more plug-and-play, you might look into professional video playback gear that editors use. Some of those systems already support jog wheels and might work well for a museum display.
Overall, your idea feels very achievable. With the right mix of hardware and software, you can likely create a smooth, interactive scrubbing experience.
