I was using Sorenson Squeeze to encode H264 1080p videos for the brightsign, but I wasn't super happy with the results, so I switched over to adobe media encoder CS 5.5, which seems to work better overall. However, on several of the videos I encoded, I noticed that at a seemingly random point on playback there would be a frame or two that would have half the screen blocky and completely messed up. I would allow the video to loop and then I would never see the problem again. I thought maybe it was some issue that happened on first time playback. However, I was recently at a museum where they are opening an exhibit soon with one of our videos. When we did the walkthrough and got to our video, which had been looping the whole time, I saw the same sort of problem again. I watched the same scene for a few more loops but the issue didn't reappear. So I'm worried that it's just a random glitch that appears every once in a while when encoding with Adobe Media Encoder. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas? I'm considering paying for the upgrade to sorenson squeeze 8 since it has the x264 codec.

support@brightsign.biz Have you tried the Roku Preset?

Per Argentine That doesn't really help since the issue is appearing in Adobe Media Encoder.

Lyndon can you export the profile you're using with adobe and send it to us. Can you also upload a video sample?

Per Argentine not a problem, I've attached the preset file. you can download an excerpt of the video encoded with the settings here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/85jhtbspdvndnl5/ADAM%20SDHH_excerpt.mp4

We support up to level 4.1, and this video is 4.2. It needs to be redone at 4.1 in order to work properly on the brightsign.

Per Argentine I'm not sure how that got changed because I had been encoding at 4.1. So I upgraded to sorenson 8 and encoded with x264, 2-pass CBR @ 30k, 23.98 progressive, level 4.1 and muxed with ac3 audio with TS Muxer, but the same glitch happened. Then I used a Sorenson preset for brightsign that they have called "TS h264 dolby digital 23.98 1080i" but changed it to Mainconcept, progressive, CBR @ 25k, and the same weird glitch happened again in a different place in the video! So now I'm using both my original encoding setting that has worked in the past and the brightsign preset above except not changing anything except bumping the bitrate up to CBR 25k.

Alex Please update the brightsign to the latest beta firmware and retest.

Per Argentine I updated our 110 to the beta firmware, still no luck yet with any of the Squeeze presets, I tried their TS_h264_dolbydigital_23.98_1080i preset as is. Encoding the video with x264 now to see what happens. Haven't had a chance to retest AME. I've attached the settings I'm using for x264 in Squeeze.
