We recently set up a BrightSign Network account for 8 players. My first task was to upload .ts files to our library in order to make them available for updates, new projects, etc.. In so doing, I learned that the Microsoft Silver Light plugin is required to upload files. (really?) Upon installing the plugin, rebooting, and opening Safari again, when I attempted to add files the browser returns an error message "Plug-in Failure" Tried both Safari and Chrome browsers, tried both from different OS's (both OS 10.10.1 and 10.7.3) and no combination of browser/OS worked.
I was told by the sales rep that the Web UI and BrightSign Network are absolutely Mac Compatible and are "accessible from any Internet connected PC or Mac" -- just apparently not an actual Mac. The product Datasheet says "Runs on a Mac." In fact there are no system requirements listed.
So now we've paid for a 1 year subscription to BSN for 8 players at a cost of several hundred dollars in order to manage a network half a continent away, and we can't even use the service to upload videos -- which is supposed to be the point.
Has anyone had any luck using a simple FTP utility "filezilla? Cyberduck? Transmit? etc." to upload video files to their BSN account? It seems ridiculous to have to install an antiquated, non-native plug-in just to upload files when the same function can be handled by a very stable FTP application.
I've been a fan of the BrightSign hardware for years, unfortunately this problem is a deal breaker for a client who's piloting a program where they may purchase and install nearly a thousand BS players over the next year.
