BrightSign Network uploading files "Plug-in Failed" on Mac OS

We recently set up a BrightSign Network account for 8 players. My first task was to upload .ts files to our library in order to make them available for updates, new projects, etc.. In so doing, I learned that the Microsoft Silver Light plugin is required to upload files. (really?) Upon installing the plugin, rebooting, and opening Safari again, when I attempted to add files the browser returns an error message "Plug-in Failure" Tried both Safari and Chrome browsers, tried both from different OS's (both OS 10.10.1 and 10.7.3) and no combination of browser/OS worked.

I was told by the sales rep that the Web UI and BrightSign Network are absolutely Mac Compatible and are "accessible from any Internet connected PC or Mac" -- just apparently not an actual Mac. The product Datasheet says "Runs on a Mac." In fact there are no system requirements listed.

So now we've paid for a 1 year subscription to BSN for 8 players at a cost of several hundred dollars in order to manage a network half a continent away, and we can't even use the service to upload videos -- which is supposed to be the point.

Has anyone had any luck using a simple FTP utility "filezilla? Cyberduck? Transmit? etc." to upload video files to their BSN account? It seems ridiculous to have to install an antiquated, non-native plug-in just to upload files when the same function can be handled by a very stable FTP application.

I've been a fan of the BrightSign hardware for years, unfortunately this problem is a deal breaker for a client who's piloting a program where they may purchase and install nearly a thousand BS players over the next year.

    Hi,

Please see System Requirements on this page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

Silverlight plugin is supported on Macintosh OS 10.5.7+ (Intel-based) only by Firefox 12+ and Safari 4+. Test with these two browsers.

Also, try disabling antivirus software on your computer before you do file uploads.

    Also, see this FAQ:

    http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/22224321-Why-can-t-I-upload-files-to-the-BrightSign-Network-from-my-browser-

If upload fails, please tell the version of the web browser and version of MacOS which you use.

File uploads work from safari using silverlight 5.1.30514.0. You should go to preferences, in safari, click on "security" tab, click on internet plug-ins, allow plug-ins. There is a button beside that checkbox, it's called "Manage website settings". You should press it, and select "run in unsafe mode" option, for silverlight. Close safari. Then open again, sign into brightsign network account and try to upload your content.

The BrightSign Network update on December 25, 2015 includes a new file upload that does not require Silverlight, works with Chrome, checks for already-existing files in the Library, and also supports uploading files to specific folders.
